Team Leader in Social Services at Västerås City

Västerås kommun

18 days left
to apply for the job

The city of Västerås has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will become an important part of our selection work.

Are you an inspirer and ambassador for social work and have an interest in leadership? With us, you will have a trust-based workplace with strong collegial support. We are proud to make a difference for children and young people every day with a high degree of legal certainty.

Your tasks

In our unit, we work to investigate, grant assistance, and follow up on interventions for the target group aged 0–18 years. We work with a cohesive handling from investigation until the interventions are concluded for our clients. We develop our work based on the societal developments that occur, and we have a particular focus on three target groups: children and young people at risk of crime, children and young people with disabilities and psychiatric issues, and children and young people placed in emergency and foster homes. We see that these target groups require special collaboration with both internal and external parties.

We constantly strive to improve what we do, and you are an important piece of the puzzle in continuing to develop our unit and our working methods. A typical day at work involves leading and distributing the work for social workers. You support and guide in both planning and documentation and ensure that there is a high degree of legal certainty in the handling of cases, as well as good quality in interaction and documentation. Collaboration occurs daily, both internally and externally. If there is interest, you also have the opportunity to represent the board in court hearings. When we get new employees, you will also be involved in introducing them to the job. In the role of team leader, you will also be part of the operational development of the unit.

Your competence

We are looking for someone who has an interest in motivating, coaching, and guiding others. You have a degree in social work and several years of experience in public authority and case management within social services for children and young people. You are confident in social service legislation and are used to working with LVU. If you also have experience working in a supervisory role, it is an advantage. Since travel may occur in the position, it is a plus if you have a driver's license. Important qualities for you are that you are flexible and can adapt to changing circumstances. We believe that you are unpretentious and can communicate clearly with both colleagues and managers. You have strong support from your team leader colleagues but can also work independently and drive your processes forward. You are secure and stable and have the ability to remain calm in pressured situations. We believe that you are resilient and motivated to be effective even during tough periods or when the pace is high.
